About

Introduction

My name is Robin Hornak, and I am a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with an academic background in Statistics and 6 years of professional experience across various companies and industries.

I obtained a combined Bachelor's and Master’s degree (MSci) in Statistics from the University College London in 2018.

Following that, I moved to Japan in 2018 to work at one of Japan’s leading eCommerce companies, Rakuten, as a Machine Learning Engineer. I stayed there for over 2 years. At Rakuten, I was part of the CustomerDNA team, focusing on building predictive user attributes for customer targeting, user segmentation, and profiling.

In December 2020, I joined Infogrid, an IoT startup in London, where I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer. At Infogrid, we specialized in optimizing and automating facilities and building management using IoT sensors, combined with software, machine learning, and data science techniques. In June 2022, I was promoted to Senior Machine Learning Engineer.

After nearly three years at Infogrid, in November 2023, I decided to take on a new opportunity and join FinTrU as a Senior ML Engineer to work on NLP related problems.
